QSO Party Deadline

!!!ATTENTION!!!

*** NEW DEADLINE DATES ESTABLISHED FOR ALL 10-10 QSO PARTIES ***

*** EFFECTIVE WITH THE SUMMER QSO PARTY ***

On January 22,2017 a BOD online meeting/conference was held. It was recommended the deadline dates of all QSO Parties be shortened. Fifteen days runs very close to having to get results to the NEWS Editor. Even though 15 days is given, I generally have to wait longer. US and especially DX logs can take up to as many as 7 to 10 days to get to me, if mailed.   That could be up to 25 days before I can start to tally up the results. Right now we have approximately 80-85% of the logs that are uploaded to the contest scorer. About 8-10% are sent in via email. The rest 6-10% are sent in via snail mail. I have looked at most of the other contests and their deadline dates run anywhere from 5 days to about a week. The BOD determined that a week (7 days) is sufficient time to submit a log. Seven days would end on a Sunday so the new deadline dates will end 8 days after each QSO Party. Approximately 95% of the logs are in within the 8 day time frame. As always, if the deadline date does fall on a Sunday or a holiday then the deadline date will be extended one day. Remember, the deadline date is the last day to submit your logs.

The new deadline dates will start with the Summer QSO Party in August of this year (2017). This should be sufficient time to get the word out to everyone about the change. The next edition of the NEWS will reflect the new deadline dates. I will do my best to get the word out to as many people as I can and also to the other organizations that post our QSO Party Schedule.

AOL and Yahoo Mail

!!! Attention AOL and Yahoo Mail Users !!

Over the past few months, Ten-Ten International and our Internet Hosting provider, Hostgator, have been experiencing email delivery issues with AOL. Ten-Ten and Hostgator have attempted to resolve these issues with AOL to no avail. The issue at hand is AOL’s heightened security with email relays, such as email that is coming from the Hostgator servers, but are identified as begin sent by Ten-Ten International.

We do not see any resolution in the future so we’d like to recommend that if you are using an AOL address as your registered email address for your Web Site registration, or your membership registration and notification, you might consider changing this address to something else so you can receive email from Ten-Ten without interruption.

With the eventual integration of Yahoo and AOL, we may expect to see similar issues with the Yahoo mail servers.

How to change your Email address in the Master Database

Send an email to gro.net-net.www@pihsrebmem and include your Name, Callsign, Ten-Ten Number and the new email address you would like recorded.

How to change your Email address at the web site.

1.   Login into the website with your current credentials

2.   Hover the mouse over the Membership Tab and click on User Profile

3.   Click on the Contact Info Tab

4.   In the Email block, change your email address, or any other contact information you would like to change.

5.   Click the Update Button to store your changes.

6.   You may get an email from the system to verify that you provided a valid email address.

ARRL Forwarding Service

If you are using the ARRL.NET forwarding service and that service forwards to an AOL or Yahoo account, you may still experience the issues that we are currently having.  Hotmail and Gmail have not had any issues with email from Ten-Ten or Hostgator.
