New QSO Party – Spirit of 76 (7 Days 6 Modes) QSO Party


The 1010 Board of Directors have approved a new QSO Party on a trial basis for next year. The Party will be called “Spirit of 76 QSO Party”. The name comes from when the party will be held, which is during the week of July 4th each year . For 2010 the Party starts 0001Z Monday 28 June and runs until 2400Z Sunday 4 July. The idea will be to make as many contacts with members and non members as you can during the week (7 Days) using 6 modes. The modes that will be used are as follows as well as the suggested frequencies to monitor:
  1. USB [28345]
  2. CW [28050]
  3. Psk 31 [28120]
  4. Rtty [28086]
  5. FM [29600]
  6. AM [29000]
Scoring will be as normal for QSO Parties, 2 points for members and 1 point for non members. Dupes will be allowed once for each mode.It will be possible to work the same call 6 times in each of the various modes for a maximum total of 12 points per call. All of the other normal rules apply.
This will also allow members to work on their Lucky 13 Award at the same time we are creating activity over the entire 10 meter spectrum. If band conditions are poor, and we all concentrate on the same frequencies, we have a much better chance of making contacts. The various Chapter Nets will have the opportunity after their nets to schedule some contacts for the various modes. During the Daily Nets we could schedule some activity when they are finished. What we have tried to do is create something for everyone to participate in. The first Spirit of 76 logs will be sent to me for scoring, then if the Board approves this as a QSO Party for future use, the QSO Party Manager will take it over.
