The ARRL DX SSB Contest has brought a lot of DX out, ..and, very fortunately, in.
A one-man DX-pedition in West Africa has been hard for me to get on 10-m until
today, the 1st full day of the contest. Let's see if he is there on Sunday, also.
I worked him on 28.446 on 02 Mar, 2013 20:01, from Tucson AZ, with my
vertical (Antron A-99) at 33 ft to the feed-point, and 200 W, from far southern
Arizona, at home in central Tucson.
I don't have many contacts on 10-m on the continent of Africa, and am 3 1/2 years
into the hobby as a licensee. Cycle-24 has been not too stellar.
But Cycle 24 is all I know, so I thank my lucky stars. Except for my years as an
SWL in the mid 1960s until 1970: what a time that was.
To get 6V7S today, I had to work over many East Coast stations from here in
the desert. It took about a dozen calls. When I heard Vlad pronounce my call,
I was pretty pleased.
Unfortunately, Vlad shows on QRZ.com that he is NOT an LotW user. Oh, well;
nobody's perfect. I'll just have to squeeze a card out of him, then.
