On October 10, 2010, the Netherlands Antilles will cease to exist as a country within the Kingdom of the Netherlands and the islands will emerge with several new statuses: St. Maarten and Curaçao will each become an independent country within the Kingdom and will be granted the same status that Aruba attained in 1986. Bonaire, Saba and Sint Eustatius will be given the status of a public body in the Netherlands and will be directly under Dutch rule.
For Amateur Radio this means that the Leeward Islands (PJ2/PJ4) and Windward Islands (PJ5/PJ6/PJ7) will be deleted for ARRL DXCC. However, four new entities are expected to emerge on 10-10-2010. Both St. Maarten (PJ7) and Curacao (PJ2) will each become new DXCC entities. Bonaire (PJ4) will become a new DXCC entity. Saba (PJ6) along with St. Eustatius (PJ5) will become a single DXCC entity due to their proximity to each other.

JX Jan Mayen Island. Stan SQ8X, announced that a team of 5-6 hams, is planning to visit the Island of Jan Mayen between July 4-14th, 2011. This will not only be a DXpedition, but the team will have a unique opportunity to climb "Beerenberg" - an active stratovolcano. Web site: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beerenberg .

Total 10-10 countries as of today 315. Twenty-nine Countries remaining to be worked for 10-10. There are about 60 Countries with no resident 10-10 member. Many of these are Islands and countries with no ham population.

7P Lesotho. Doc WB6OJB #70675, was back in Lesotho from August 2-6th for another trip into Africa as he did last year. He made few ten meter contacts.
A6 United Arab Emirates. Fred G4BWP #28684 was on ten meters in the WAE contest using call sign A65BD.
CT7 Arlindo CT1EGW #64677, Luis CT4NH #42052, and Herman HB9CRV/CT3FN #72110, were in the IOTA Contest in July as CR6W from Insua Island.
FP ST. Pierre & Miquelon. Peg KB9LIE #69937 and Paul K9OT, was again on Miquelon Island from July 5-14th. LoTW. http://www.hamradio.pnpfarms.com .
GM Channel Islands. Tom GM4FDM #31864, was on the Channel Islands from June 29th to July 6th.
I Italy. James KB0MZF #69109, Giovanni IZ0PSA, Edmondo VA3ITA and Laura VA3LIA, were active as IB0Y from Ponza Island from August 1-8th.
J6 St. Lucia. Howard WB4WXE #7010, was active as J6/WB4WXE from St. Lucia until July 6th.
JY Jordan. Chuck KG9N #17038, was in Jordan and operated from the JY6ZZ club station from July 7-15th.
PJ7 St. Maarten. Andrea IK1PMR #62272 and PA3LEO were in St. Maarten and Anguilla in the Caribbean from June 8th to 21st.

T30 W. Kiribati. Haru JA1XGI/W8XGI #55571, make another trip to Western Kiribati using call T30XG on CW and digital from June 3-9th.
V31 Belize. Bob W5UQ #74198, San K5YY and Bill, W5SJ, operated from Belize, July 12-19th, as V31UQ.
VE Canada. Gregg VE3ZZ #38480, was active from Prince Edward Island July 21- 26th. He used VY2X for IOTA else VE3ZZ/VY2. John VE1CDD #54264and Barry VE1TRI was active as VE1TRI/P from Long Island Nova Scotia during the IOTA Contest in July. Roland VE1AOE #14936 and friends operated VB1H from Harris Island, from August 11-15th.
VP2E Anguilla. Andrea IK1PMR/VP2EMR #62272, and Claudia PA3LEO/VP2ECF, uploading their VP2E logs too http://www.ik1pmr.com/logs/ . They were on Anguilla until June 20th. QSL via PA3LEO.
W USA. Leslie AD5WB #74524,was in the IOTA Contest from Galveston Island in July. Dennis N3DG #13163, was on from Seven Mile Beach Island as N3DG/2. Gary W2VQ #73708 and Paul WQ2N #74295, used WQ2N/p from Long Beach Island. Paul was there the weekend, while Gary remained there until the 30th. Eric WG3J #10205 was in the IOTA Contest as K3I from Tangier Island. Burch W4MY #62672, was active from Bogue Banks during the IOTA Contest. Stan N2US #10790, was in the IOTA Contest as N2US/3 from Assateague Island, on low power.

Upcoming DX & New 10-10 Activity:

3D2 Figi. Sebastien F8IJV #64604, plans to be in Fiji in October 2011. He will try to be active during his free time with call 3D2JV. He will operate from his friend’s 3D2AG #72719 on Liti Levu, and operate the CQWW SSB (2011) from that QTH. He will have an FT-450 and Spiderbeam 5-band antenna and verticals. He expects to be on SSB, with FM on 10, and digital. LoTW.
9H Malta. Holger DL5XAT #64618, and Olaf DL4HG, are going to Gozo Island, Malta, from November 23- 30th during the CQWW CW contest. They will be using only 100 watts and vertical antennas.
A25 Botswana. Robert K5ZOL #72593 and Frosty K5LBU #51322, will be active from Botswana between October 20th and November 4th. Each op has his own call sign but they will have a special call of A25HQ for the CQ WW SSB contest with three stations on at the same time.
CY0 Sable Island. Randy N0TG #12990 and Ron AA4VK #12423, with VE1RGB, and AI5P, will be on Sable Island from October 21-29th. Web site at: http://www.CY0DXpedition.com .

KG4 Guantanamo Bay. Stu K4MIL/KG4SS #66937 and Bill W4WV/KG4WV #26180 with more friends, will operate from October 5-19th all bands and modes.
KP2 US Virgin Islands. Street K1TO #11008, Bruce W4OV #7344, John NP2B #19327, Jeanette NP2C #21055, Ann KP2YL #70464, Fred K9VV #8707, and friends, will operate from St Croix from October 30-31st.
OD Lebanon. Manfred OD5/DL6SN #36153, is now in Lebanon until January 1, 2011. He likes CW and expects to be on his pm and weekends. QSL via DO8LA.
P4 Aruba. John W2GD #14109, will be on Aruba from November 22nd to December 1st, including the CQ WW CW DX Contest as P40W. QSL via N2MM.

TA Turkey. Rene DL2JRM #69623, is going to Sile, Turkey near Istanbul from September 13-16th and will use call sign TA2/DL2JRM all CW.
TF Iceland. Rene DL2JRM #69623 will use call sign TF/DL2JRM from September 17-24th while in Iceland.
TK Corsica. Patrice F5RBB/TK #71709, and wife Mireille F0FRL, will operate from Corsica on September 12-25th. Patrice likes to operate SSB and digital.
V3 Belize. Mike W7ASF #53132 will be in Belize from October 25th to November 4th including the CQWW SSB. His call sign will be V31MH.
V3 Belize. Jim WB2REM/V31MM #48365, Paul W4PGM/V31PM #75574, and Glenn KD2JA, will be in Placentia, Belize from March 23-30, 2011.
V6 Micronesia. Shoji JA7HMZ/V63DX #30900, and two friends, will be in Micronesia October 29-November 4th, operating as V63B in the CQWW SSB contest.
VP5 Turks and Caicos. David VP5/W5XW #6506, was worked by a friend on CW. Unknown dates.
VP8 S. Orkney Islands. A DXpedition to the South Orkney Islands, is upcoming this winter from January 27th to February 8, 2011. VP9 Bermuda. Ray VP9/ND8L #16810 and WW3S, will be at VP9GE's #3822 QTH for the CQWW RTTY, September 25-26th, signing VP9I in the contest. Gay N4SF #00568, and Les VP9/N1SV #71546, will again be operating from Bermuda in the CQ WW Phone Contest.
VQ9 Chagoa Island. Larry VQ9LA/N0QM #30784, the club station on the Island has lost their big beam. Larry will depart the Island in December 2010.
W USA. Buzz NI5DX #45645 and Al WD5IQR will be active from Mustang Island TX on September 17- 19th.
Z2 Zimbabwe. Bob AC7GP #68357, will be active from September 30th to November 1st using low power.
ZD8 Ascension Island. Tom K7ZZ 71378, is making a trip to Ascension Island as ZD8ZZ to be active from October 6-19th using SSB and CW. Tom will operate from a mountain site but running low power with a view of the Atlantic. LoTW.

Propagation: Propagation continues to improve and we have seen more active sun spots in August. Expect the daily solar flux to range from 79-93 the next quarter as solar Cycle 24 is made official by NOAA.
On September 9th the solar flux was 75. The A index 8 and K index 1. No storms expected. Expect the best conditions on Sept 7-11th, Oct 5-8th, Nov 1-3rd and 28-30th and Dec. 27-31st. Over the next four months, for USA stations, expect a 20% chance of DX in the mornings to Asia, Europe or Africa and a 40% chance into South America or the Pacific in the afternoon. To tell what DX paths are open, listen for the beacons from 28.175-28.300 (especially 28.200).
