Is there a PL mod to Radio Shack HTX-10

I have a Radio Shack HTX-10 and it has one built-in PL of 88.5 Hz, and I want to change it to 100Hz. Does anyone know how to do this mod, or if there is a CTCSS outboard solution for the HTX-10?

The good news is yes there is. I use a HTX-10 to monitor my 10 meter repeater. I wired in a Communication Specialist TE-32 and that way I was able to access all of the 10 meter repeaters when the band opens. It is in an external box and you can quickly change tones (TX) only. I picked up the 12 vdc from the Radio Shack to power the tone box. Was fairly simple to install, downloaded the manual from the internet to pickup access points. As I recall, all I had to do was solder the leads from the tone box to the mic solder points. Hope this helps Paul WN4AMO

Thank you Paul that looks like a good outboard solution. I am still hoping someone has poked around the HTX-10 and knows where and how to adjust the on-board, existing PL circuit to another frequency.

I have the information about adding a Com-Spec CTCSS unit to the HTX-10 rig....... PDF about 125 KB easy attached to an Email.
Seems the 88.5 tone is "locked in" and can not be altered...only turned on and off.

Thank you for the PDF, Bill. After I got Paul's suggestion about the CTCSS box I had the same thought - use the power from the rig and connect the tone encoder inside. I really appreciate the solution you present. Thing is I have yet to hear any activity on any 10 repeater FM output frequency and I can't key up the 29.620 Boston machine (on 29.520) to see if it's even active. Ditto for 680 which is also listed, or 640.

I was hoping all along that the frequency synthesizer for the tone generator was like a 555 timer - we just needed to change a cap & resister. No such luck, I guess, but I'm gonna keep exploring. This is a great backup solution, though, thanks again.
