I have added Linux and maybe in the future add subforums for some of the software we use as ten-ten members.

If WinXP goes the way of all the other window releases, I may be switching back to linux. Used Red Hat, DSL and Ubuntu in the past.

Well I have been running Linux since the OS was 6 months old. It has come a very long way. All the servers here run slackware and I run Fedora for my box and ubuntu on the laptop. Looks like support for XP runs out in 2010 hopefully by then YGPSK and Win10-10 will have a Linux version.

From all the problems that have been attributed to the soundcard changes for Whista, Linux may be the logical alternative. I think I may have to learn C++ :?

A linux version of Win 1010 should not be that difficult. Since it is basically a database program, some sort of wrapper around MySQL would be sufficant. In fact, it could very well be written in TCL/TK or even Java and be a platform independent program that should run on Winders, Linux or even Mac.

The current version of YGPSK should run inside of the WINE emulator, and I see no reason why Win1010 wouldnt run that way either.

Well as with most programs running a windows app under wine is like running a msdos app under dosemu or dosbox it leaves a lot to be desired. With the amount of folks developing native Linux apps eventually I would like to see native apps. If I could figure out how to make fldigi log like Ygpsk then life would become easy.
