CW Ten Ten calling frequency

A few years ago I remember reading an article in the Ten Ten News. It was suggested by Mr Riley Hollingsworth of the
FCC that it would be good to use 28.160 as the CW Ten Ten calling frequency. Does anyone remember reading this
article? Which issue of the NEWS was it in?

I don't remember the article, but when I'm here in the shack doing paper-work, I usually listen to 28.050. It's the freq where some of the SKCC'ers call, and since many of them have 10-10 numbers, I can 'kill 2 birds with one stone'. hi hi
But here lately I've heard nothing, and can't even kill one bird!

I tried poking around using Google to find this info and found that the CW calling frequency seems to (unofficially) be 28.1010. Maybe that's why no one ever hears any 10-10 ops on 10 CW (just kidding).

I listen a lot to 28.050 early evenings while I do my volunteer book-keeping here at the desk, and send an occasional CQ. The easy sound of the radio helps me concentrate on what I'm doing. I don't know how I would react if I actually heard a signal in there! (hi hi).
With the upswing of the cycle, I'm sure things will improve soon. I only use a vertical here (all bands), so I need all the upswing I can get!

So is the CW calling frequency is 28.101, and since the band has been open off and on for a few days, I will be calling on this frequency when I hear some activity on ssb.

Just think you can get an exchange of 10x10 numbers and a SKCC number ..2 birds with one stone<hi>, cu there.

As far as I know, the SKCC people use 28.050, and the NAQCC people (QRP) use 28.060.
Perhaps the 10-10 people have another frequency they monitor?

When I wass active on 10 meters I always monitored 28.345.0

Yes, 28.345, as well as 28.400, are popular ssb frequencies, and even I have been known to get the microphone out of the closet and call there. (hi hi)
