About the New Waterkant Chapter meeting April 30th - May 3rd

Postby DK7LA » Tue May 12, 2009 12:21 pm

Hello together,

we had a nice meeting last weekend. It was sunny all the time and our sightseeing trips were fine. In the evenings we talked (about nearly everything) and on Saturday after Dinner Andree - DL8LAS gave a very interesting foto lecture on the DXpedition to VP6DX.
The first attendees already arrived on Wednesday, April 29th. On that day we also met Roger KB7ARN and Doris KB9ARA a Hamburg airport.
Most of our guests arrived on Thursday in the meeting hotel in Kropp, Schleswig-Holstein/North Germany, about 25 miles sout of Denmark. That Thursday we had an evening parking lot net in Boerm, a small village about 10 km west of Kropp around the QTH of DJ3LA and DK7LA.
The next morning several attendees drove to coast of the Baltic Sea to visit the yearly meeting of the Schleswig-Holstein district. Some took part in a 2m mobile competition or visited the amateur radio flea market, several YLs took part in the YL meeting. Others drove to the North Sea to work a special New Waterkant chapter seal.
In the afternoon we had a trip to the Kiel-Canal, which is the busiest canal of the world. In 2008 on average 117 big ships per day made their tour from the River Elbe (North Sea) to the Baltic sea. We were not lucky - only one one little cargo ship drove past the welcome point, where we had our coffee. a pity!
In the evening we had an informal meeting at the hotel. Quite a lot of hams discuss about this and that.

On Saturday morning we started to Flensburg at the border to Denmark and visited the "Phänomenta", an interactive exhibition, where we could try physical experiences etc. It was very interesting.
Back in Kropp in the afternoon we had the official opening of the meeting. Our CH Manfred DL8LAC welcomed all the attendees. We had guests from three countries (Roger and Doris from the States, Nick PA2NJC and his xyl Marlie from the Netherlands as well as quite a lot of hams and their (x)yls from seven different German States (Bundesländer)).
After cake and coffee we prepared for the net and again drove to Börm to run the second parking lot net and do the foto of the group. ALL stations (without netcontrol) were anywhere in the region /p or /m, on Saturday. This afternoon we had 55 check ins.

In the evening - back in the hotel - we had dinner and listened to the interesting foto lecture about VP6DX, the dxpedition with a new world record. We also could listen to some greeting words Gerry, WA6POZ, sent via email, other greeting words
by the district chaiman Horst DJ9FC, who attended with his xyl DK8LQ, both 10-10ers, too, by the second chairman of our local club and at last by Ingrid DL4BO, the lady chairman of the "DSW" (award collectors Waterkant), 10X-75364.
And we could say welcome to two new 10-10 stations: Dave DJ2ANG 10-10 # 75378 and Falk DL1ALK 10-10 #75379. They were surprised that we handed out their 10-10 certificates that evening!

Sunday morning several attendees met at the hotel to say bye bye and ... "see you again in one or two or three years in
Kropp" (who knows ???)

At last we would like to say "thanks so much" to those 26 (!) chapters who gave out specials or some bonuspoints for their
members that attended the gathering. That was very kind and the members were happy about it.

Well, perhaps once again back in Kropp - whatever the "title" of that gathering will be.
Marianne and me had a lot of fun this year!

Hi Wolf..

Sounds like you had a very good and varid meeting the other weekend when you had quite a lot going on with everything you describe in your notes above..

Maybe, if the dates fall right next year, or if I can get time off work, you will have at least One more person attending...!
Very pleased that the GBTEN Chapter were of help to you in issueing new club membership numbers and very pleased about the new members who joined the Chapter.

Keep up the good work and catch you later....
