To help everyone understand how the electronic version can be obtained just follow these steps:
Turn to the very last page of your most recent version of the news.
Above the text that reads "10-10 QSO PARTY..." in large print is a line. Above this line is the web address and log-in information.
The login information changes with each edition for obvious reasons, only paid members have access to the NEWS online (including Life Members).
I have had two separate requests for information about why the NEWS is not being sent direct so I will address the logistics of this issue.
- 1. The task of keeping up with everyone's email addresses would be too large a task, just ask any certificate manager.
2. The problem of what to do when the recipient's email box is full or otherwise unavailable. There's no way to insure that the NEWS was received by all parties.
3. Last but not least. SPAM deterrent procedures at the hosting company would prevent the mass emailing of several thousand copies of the file which measures in at around 3meg per copy. Multiply this by a possible 5,000 copies and you are looking at a possible 15,000,000,000 in traffic and NO web hosting company will settle for that. That was the reason the download information has always been posted on the last page of the NEWS.
I don't mind the questions about the electronic edition but wanted to save you the embarrassment of finding the information was 'hidden in plain sight."
