There are a fair number of Ten-Ten members who either do not own a computer or do not use the Internet for reasons of their own so the printed version of the NEWS has been maintained so as not to exclude anyone. There are also some who enjoy both the online version and the print versions of the NEWS, again for reasons of their own.
But none of that should prevent you from joining Ten-Ten and enjoying working some very fine operators on a variety of different modes on the 10 meter band. With a radio setup like yours it would give you an opportunity to meet a great many of the members through the Ten-Ten nets and the individual chapter nets as well. Chasing points and wallpaper may or may not be your thing but you will enjoy the camaraderie of the membership itself.
I hope you will reconsider joining as you will learn that the leadership of Ten-Ten goes out of their way to insure that everyone knows what is going on within the organization. Since you're a member of ARRL ask yourself what the difference is in sending the ARRL your money considering their cash reserves and sending your money to Ten-Ten International. Instead of the financial reserves of Ten-Ten being a concern I look upon it as good, sound management of the funds that have been paid and/or donated to the Ten-Ten organization.
All of the awards at Ten-Ten are free to the membership and there are a lot of awards out there both from the organization and the chapters themselves. And I do understand if you don't care to chase wallpaper or points for reasons of your own. There are a lot of members who simply enjoy the social aspect of working the Ten-Ten membership and skip any of the QSO parties or points & wallpaper chasing. I recently earned DXCC Digital Modes all on LoTW. The cost to me as an ARRL member? $54.00, which is $6 shy of 4 years of membership fees at Ten-Ten and I would venture to say that Ten-Ten's financial reserves are far less than those of the ARRL.
In closing, I truly do hope you'll reconsider joining us. You really will enjoy the group.
