Air Capital
(Wichita, Kansas and Vicinity)

The Air Capital Tentenners of the Wichita Kansas area was chartered in August of 1986. As of this writing approx 1000 numbers have been issued. The central theme revolves around the fact that Wichita is known as "The Air Capital" because of the four major aircraft manufacturers situated there.

The AC issues three certificates. The Basic, the Cross Country and the Pilot.

Cost of the basic certificate is $1.00 plus 2 First Class Stamps. Do not submit more than 50,000 points on the initial application. Credit is given annually for proof of paid up 10-10 dues. Worksheets are available from the basic CM or a computer genereated worksheet is acceptable.

No further upgrades are possible until the applicant completes the Cross Country requirements on the worksheet provided by the basic CM.

Cross Country/Pilot-

These are the Chapters senior awards and are issued by:
Ed Redwine K5ERJ, Sr. CM
9 Yellowrose Lane
Augusta, KS 67101

Cost of each award is $1.00 plus 2 FCS (first class stamps). The basic CM issues the worksheet for the Cross Country. After completion, a number is issued and a worksheet for the Pilot is issued by the senior CM, K5ERJ.

The Cross Country worksheet is provided when the applicant turns in 50,000 collected points. It requires a cross country trip from coast to coast much as if you were flying in a plane. You must have a minimum of 10 states with an AC contact in each state. Each state must have a common border. I.E. Work FL, then in succession, GA, TN, MO, KS CO, UT, NV, CA. Another example would be to work ME, then in succession, MA, CT, NY, PA, OH, IN, IL, MO, KS, CO, AZ, CA. Dates are required and times if more than 2 states are contacted on the same day. A refueling stop in KS is required. You must work a C or CL in KS.

In times of poor propagation, the Cross Country can be won by using the alternate method which consists of working a certain number of certain stations.

Pilot Award-

The Pilot is the last award in the series and carries basically the same requirements as the Cross Country. The exception is that the Cross Country trip has been eliminated due to poor propagation, but will be re-instated when Cycle 23 is on the upswing. Check with the Sr. CM for rules. An alternate method is used to complete the Pilot by working a certain number of stations with certain suffixes on their AC numbers.
